When I first went to TD’s Tailgate, I will admit that I was hesitant because I had only remembered the old location. However, I was quickly blown away by what seems like 900 HD TVs in the restaurant. More on that in a second.… Read More Read More
Tower Tuesday, Blendsday and Vinyl Thursday, regardless of the day you go to Hoppin Frog, you’ll have an amazing selection of not only Hoppin’ Frog beers, but also hard to find craft beers from elsewhere. They aren’t prejudiced; they know a good beer when they taste it, whether it’s theirs or not.… Read More Read More

Ohio was on national television three times last weekend. THREE TIMES IN ONE WEEKEND – that’s great! And each of those spots were nationally acclaimed for being a top-notch facility in their respective sports. Firestone Country Club Golf Course (Akron), Football Hall of Fame (Canton), and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.… Read More Read More
When you live in Ohio, your options for quick getaways don’t always sound hot and sexy: Quick trip to Indiana, romantic weekend in Illinois, weekend getaways in Pennsylvania.
I can’t really come up with a fantastic lie as to why our Lake Erie Beaches outrank somewhere like Siesta Key, but I can tell you that we do have beaches and you can have fun without the 20 hour car ride to Florida.… Read More Read More
What kind of Canton residents would we be if we didn’t promote and suggest the Football Hall of Fame 2013 to our readers? It’s the #1 bragging right and tourist attraction we have, and we love it. We are proud of it and want others to have a good time when they come to visit.… Read More Read More
Hipsters, sandwiches, downtown Canton, I love ‘em all. Combine them and it’s like a [local] little piece of Portlandia. Recently opened Deli Ohio is just that – also, a much needed addition to the food scene here.
I say much needed because it fills that gap between sit down restaurant and… McDonald’s.… Read More Read More
Canton Food Tours has been on our “must-do” list for a long time now. So, when the planets aligned and we were able to gather a group of foodie/artsy/all-around-creative friends, we jumped at the chance to go on a private Warehouse District tour of downtown Canton.… Read More Read More
It’s that time of year – scheduling vacation days! For those of us who work 40+ hours a week, the vacation day is a cherished, strategically-placed 8 hours that allow us the mind-break we need.
Traditionally, vacations are thought to be a “week vaca to the tropics” etc, but what I find to be the most bang for the buck are weekend getaways near Ohio. These spots are close enough to drive (cheap enough to fly sometimes, even) and are perfect for spending anywhere between 2.5-5 days. Read More
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway's Indy 500 is coined "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing", and it really lives up to it.
This year was the 97th running of the Indy 500, which is chock full of traditions. A reading of how the track was created, the release of multi-colored ballons, a rendition of "Back Home Again in Indiana", the National Anthem, among everything else 'Murica.
Opening ceremonies were exciting in themselves, and at times chill inducing, which only gave way to an even more exciting grand event. Read More! Read More

Some Stark County residents aren’t aware of the farmers markets and flea markets we have in our own backyard. Even I’m guilty of neglecting these, finding myself headed to the West Side Market in Cleveland more often than not.… Read More Read More
One of the best traits of Ohio City is how easy it is to get around and walk from point a to point b....c,d, and e. Parking at West Side Market, we ran through the vendors and got tons of great produce, cookies, popcorn and cheese then stopped at the car to drop everything off. We didn't have to move the car or worry about finding additional parking as all our spots were within a few blocks.
Because the only thing that makes a beverage better, is drinking that beverage outside in the sunshine on a patio. Read More
Can we please shout from the roof tops that this "box of goodies" trend is our favorite? Also an idea Collyn and I had two years ago and never followed through with because we are.... idiots, apparently.
Anywho, Birchbox - we love this! Here's the concept: a box is sent to you on a monthly basis for $10, shipping included, and it contains samples (around 5 or so) of high-end beauty products. Read More
Both Lisa and I are totally obsessed with mid-century modern everything. With the era’s clean lines and timeless appeal, what’s not to love? Unfortunately, we are not alone in this obsession, and prices tend to reflect this. (Curse you, hipsters!)
So, when I stumbled upon Mandi’s blog, I was all too excited to see her Canton home full of mid-century-yet-budget-friendly goodness.… Read More Read More
All of us non-Clevelanders have been there - jealous desires of wanting to take a swift car ride to Progressive Field, or even walking from an amazing restaurant to a ball game. You guys up North kind of have it made...
BUT. Low and behold. We have our own Summit county gem of a stadium, with a treasure of a team. (I sound like a pirate now, right? I'll stop. Promise.) The Akron Aeros. Read More

Cleveland Restaurant Week is a great reminder of why we should go to Cleveland to eat. Basically, this is a genius concept - it's a way for those of us outside of Cleveland and immediate surrounding areas to come up and try various places we might not otherwise. For a variety of reasons, whether it be a new place we're not sure about, a normally pricey menu, or a menu full of items we've never ventured to try, THIS is the reason to try them all. Read More
I found the skeleton of a midcentury modern gem at the Salvation Army on Whipple Ave. on a Saturday morning and without any hesitation bought it. After seeing the craftsmanship, it was a no-brainer; the routing, biscuits and joints showed it was created by someone who knew how to make furniture, by hand, not mass produced and sold on the floor of Value City. With a little work I was able to turn it into a pretty neat piece that I intend to keep for a while. Read More
