Mommy and Me Yoga in Canton
Have a kiddo who is two years or younger? If so, you’re probably looking for new things to do with the babe aside from the usual trip to Target. Well, I have something new and fun for you two: Mommy and Me Yoga at 6th Street Yoga in downtown Canton.
From 12p-1p on Sundays the kid-friendly Mommy and Me class is held at the downtown Canton yoga studio (after December, the schedule is TBD, check their Facebook page.)
The class fulfills a need for baby-friendly activities that also have a side of mom bonding. Started by a fellow new mom (and high school classmate of mine!), Tara brought to fruition something we’ve needed desperately in Canton.
The atmosphere is laid back and easy-going. As you know, kids are totally different every stage of the way between newbie and two-years-old, and the instructor and participants know that. So while some kiddos may be running circles around the mat (or room), others have fun participating as a prop. High-energy toddler or mellow newborn, all are totally welcome and appreciated.
While you won’t feel the burn, you will learn fun moves to do at home with the kids. The flow is set up so you can easily incorporate little ones as weight or cuddle partner. All the while, you can easily step away to grab a loose child. (Or let them go and get your triangle pose on.)
The entire experience is great for mom and babe. Little E is 8 months now and couldn’t have been more delighted to hang out with the other kids, act as a counter weight for me, cuddle up during boat pose and tell stories (very loudly). In addition to mom and baby bonding time, you also get to hang out with other moms and talk about allergies, breastfeeding, clothes, etc.
Parking is super convenient too, park in the street right in front of the studio, there are plenty of spots – all of which are free during the weekends. The class is $12 – cash, check or card taken. Watch for more info on Facebook.
