Upcoming Wine and Craft Beer Tasting Events in Canton

Upcoming Wine and Craft Beer Tasting Events in Canton

Sampling fine wines and craft beers, enjoying beautiful Spring weather {fingers crossed; this is Ohio}, and supporting great community organizations in the process? This is our favorite warm-weather pastime. Two such events are coming up in late May/early June, so naturally we’ll be at both, and hope you will be too!

Vintage Canton

UPDATE: we’re giving away two tickets to Vintage Canton! Share our  blog post on Facebook (and tag us or let us know you shared it if you can’t tag) on May 21 or 22 (through midnight on the 22nd) and we’ll announce the winner on May 23. That’s an $80 value!

12829529_10153499607007825_3858815939508639009_o-1024x379On Thursday, May 26, the ever-popular Vintage Canton event returns to downtown Canton, serving up over 70 fine wines and craft beers in a beautiful outdoor setting. Event goers will enjoy two city blocks transformed with white tents and filled with wineries and wine distributors offering diverse tastings – from sweet Ohio dessert wines to dry Italian reds. Truly, the hardest part is narrowing down your tasting list.

2016 Wine Vendors include Baltic Mill Winery, Barrel Run Crossing Winery, Esber Beverage, Fishers Foods, Easley Winery, Gervasi Vineyard,  McAlpine Meadery, L.A. Dick Imports, NautiVine Winery, Superior Beverage, Ravens Glenn Winery, The Barrel Room and Swiss Heritage Winery.

In addition to over 15 wine vendors will be local, chef-driven restaurants offering tasting plates {think grassfed beef sliders – yum!} for a nominal fee, a craft beer tent featuring Canton Brewing Company, complimentary breads and cheeses, and live entertainment.

Lisa and I are both Vintage Canton ‘vets’ at point – Lisa as a committee volunteer, and myself as a staff member at the Canton Regional Chamber which produces Vintage. It’s a classy, super-fun event that we know you’ll enjoy as much as we do – trust us on this one!

Tickets are $30 until May 25 ($40 at the door) and can be purchased online at VintageCanton.org, all seven Fishers Foods locations, both Carpe Diem Coffee Shop locations {downtown or Belden Village Mall} or by calling the Chamber at 330.458.2070. Included in the price are eight wine or beer tastings, complimentary breads and cheeses, and a souvenir wine glass. $10 non-tasting {designated driver} tickets are also available. The event runs from 4:30-9:30pm.

Canton Craft Beer InvitationalPFHOF_beer-fest

Just a week after Vintage is the inaugural Canton Craft Beer Invitational on Saturday, June 4, hosted by the United Way Young Leaders Society. Proceeds help fund various United Way activities throughout the year.

This four-hour, outdoor beer tasting event, held at the Pro Football Hall of Fame, will showcase craft beer from 25 leading Ohio brewers including The Brew Kettle, Fat Head’s Brewery, Platform Beer Co., Market Garden Brewery, Royal Docks Brewing Co., Thirsty Dog Brewing Co., and many more.

It’s hard to find a more suitable combo than football and beer in Canton, Ohio!

I’ll be serving as an ‘enthusiastic judge’ {as a friend aptly described me}, taking part in a blind tasting before the event opens to the public. So glad to finally put those visits to Erik’s Grocery Bag for craft beer mix-a-sixes to good use!

General admission tickets are $45 before May 28 ($55 at the door) and include 15 beer tastings. Limited VIP tickets are available for $65. VIP guests receive one-hour early admission to the event and exclusive access to the VIP room, 15 beer tastings, souvenir growler and complimentary appetizers provided by Fishers Foods and Gervasi Vineyard. Designated driver tickets are $20 and include two complimentary soda/water drink tickets. All event ticket holders receive free admission to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit United Way’s website at www.uwstark.org/CantonCraftBeer. This event runs from Noon-4 pm, with VIP ticket holders given admission at 11am.
