Midweek Mention : What to Do August 14th-21st, 2013

It’s been a while since we’ve posted a Midweek Mention, but Northeast Ohio has a lot going on this week! This upcoming week holds a lot of opportunity for you to get out and about in Canton, Akron and Cleveland.

Here are some of the places you’ll find the Two Amused Bouches, in addition to a few others we think are worth your time:

Main Street Festival along Main St. in North Canton from August 17-18 – free event.
There’s a lot happening during the 11th Main Street Festival, so check out the event schedule to see when you’d best like to go. A couple highlights include: Corvette Cruise-In (you might see my creepy neighbor there), Pooch Parade, North Canton Farmers Market, Chinese Raffle & Bake Sale, Amusement Rides for kids, and multiple sets of live music.

Rust and Found Sale at 111 S. Canal Street Canal Fulton, OH from August 15-17bring money because you’ll want to buy.
Check out Collyn’s post to learn more about why you have to make it to this Canal Fulton gem this weekend.

  • August 15th 11am – 5 pm
  • August 16th 11am – 7 pm
  • August 17th 11am – 3 pm

Greek Festival at the Canton Civic Center any day from August 16-18 - free entry.
Get out and eat a ton of Greek food – Baklava, Souvlaki, Lamb, Dolmathes, Avgolemono soup and Gyros – this weekend while listening to Greek music and watching Greek Dance Troupes perform. Everyone likes a good time, so OPA! right?

  • Friday August 16th – 11am – 11pm
  • Sat August 17th – 4pm – 11pm
  • Sun August 18th – 11am – 4pm

Downtown@Dusk at the Akron Art Museum from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm on Thursday August 15th – free event.
Listen to Americana, Pop and Country music from Anne E. DeChant and ArtTalk@Dusk (7:30) Gallery Talk by Associate Educator Gina Thomas McGee. Before, or after the talk you can browse the museum’s galleries which are open until 9 pm. An added bonus: the galleries are free this day.

Rock the Lock at Lock 3 in Downtown Akron at 7pm Friday August 16th – free event.
7 p.m. Bassel and the Supernaturals
8:30 p.m. Draw the Line, The Endorsed Aerosmith Tribute

Weapons of Mass Creation 2013 at Cleveland Public Theatre from August 16th-18th – ticket prices vary.
If you’re a creative or designer, you have to check this event out. Get inspired by 20 speakers, listen to over 40 bands and check out the work of over 20 designers. It’s an awesome event, even for those of us who aren’t graphic designers, you take a lot away from hearing the testimonials of really smart, creative people. Plus you also get to see some break dancing and eat scrumptious everything-but-the-kitchen-sink hot dogs near by at The Happy Dog.

Where will you be this weekend? Share what you have going on, and we’d love to check it out too.

  1. I’ll be heading to Seville, Ohio to set up shop for the Seville Art Walk! Super cute little town with antique shops galore, and home to Funky Junk Boutique! Art Walk runs from 9-4 on Saturday!

    • I’ve never been to Seville! I think Saturday might be the day. Thanks for sharing! :)

  2. I’m pretty sure I’m going to the hamburger festival down at Lock 3 this weekend. I don’t eat burgers, but we’ve lived here 7 years and haven’t gone yet. Pretty sure my husband would love it. Although, the rust and found sale sounds good!

    • Oh, I didn’t realize that was this weekend! That is a fun event, even if you aren’t a big hamburger fan. Plus, there are a lot of places to stop after to grab some food or a drink. You should try out Baxter’s if you haven’t tried it yet. Let us know how The Hamburger Fest is!
