What To Do This Weekend (11/15 – 11/17)

It may be a little colder, and a little darker outside, but that shouldn’t put a damper on your weekend. Here are some places to go and things to do after your 8-5 grind is kaput today.

Green – Market District. Sound silly? No way, this is a new concept to the area. Gourmet cheeses (a lot of them), beauty essentials of all sorts (natural, high-end, artisan), more ethnic food options than any other store near by (but don’t forget to keep shopping your local shop). In addition to getting a slightly better caliber of groceries than normal, they offer food sampling every weekend from 11am – 5pm from now until Dec. 29.

Cleveland – MOCA is hosting ArtScape – an awesome showing of “curated” artisan jewelry, accessories, and gifts – all available to buy. Find things to buy for yourself, your mom, your beau or a friend who appreciates something out-of-the box. You can choose to go tonight (Friday) from 5p-9p for the preview which is $8 but includes drink specials, food and music. On Saturday, ArtScape is free from 11a-5p.

Cleveland – The 6th Annual Cleveland Comedy Festival kicked off earlier this week and wraps up this Sunday. Head over to Playhouse Square to check out various stand-up or Improv shows throughout the weekend. Find the line up for each day here. Tickets range from $5-$35.

Canton – The Canton Comedy Series presents another show that I expect to be cry-tears-of-laughter good. Comedy Central’s Mike Vecchione is the headliner, and Josh Womack is hosting – both hilarious guys.  E, myself and friends have went to two of the CCS shows in the past and are really looking forward to this one at The Fairways from 6:30p-9:30p on Friday evening. Want to come too? Tickets are here.

Canton – Head down to the Canton Palace Theatre on Saturday, the 16, from 7:30p-10:30p for Dancing with Canton’s Stars: Season 3. Tickets are $10, and proceeds benefit the theatre. The dancers will be notable people from the Canton community showing off their new (or old?) skills. Options for a VIP reception prior, and lots of spots to go in the downtown area after. Check out Buzzbin or George’s lounge for live music after 9p.

Canal Fulton – The monthly Rust & Found Sale is on! Starting yesterday, it will run: Nov. 14th 11 – 7p, 15th 11 – 5m, 16th 11 – 3p, 17th 11 – 3p. You’ll find all sorts of holiday decor, home decor and one of a kind, hand crafted pieces from your home. Both of us Amused Bouches have some amazing pieces from the R&F sales. And if you’re unfamiliar with Canal Fulton, the downtown area is popping! There are some other cute shops, a canal and livery, plus some really good restaurants.

Need some other ideas for what to do while you’re in the area? Here are some of our recommendations for Canton, Akron and Cleveland.
